Do Judges Matter?

For the past 2 presidential elections, there has been strong rhetoric concerning strict constitutionalist judges.  This strategy is well-known.  Appoint constitutionalist judges and, eventually, the unconstitutional Roe v. Wade “Right to Privacy” will fall.  Oddly enough, there hasn’t been much talk about  judges among Republicans this time around.   Whether by accident or design, I do not know.  But I do know the one candidate who will benefit most from NOT talking about judges: Mitt Romney.  According to this Boston Globe article, Mitt has a rather embarrassing record when it comes to judicial appointments.  For all his talk about being on-board with the fight against judicial activism… Mitt Romney only appointed 9 Republicans to the bench.  The other 75% of his appointments to the bench were Democrats or Independents–some of them well-known gay activists.  I’m guessing Hannity, Rush, Laura, and others haven’t mentioned this article yet.  These are the kinds of glaring problems with Mitt which confuse conservatives who are told everyday that Rudy and Mitt are conservatives, but Mike Huckabee is not.
