I am sure you have seen this story by now concerning the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). They have gone the course of the world, abandoning the clear teaching of Scripture concerning homosexuality. The most grievous aspect of this is probably the illusion it fosters of tolerance and a large-embracing love. It surely is not loving to lead someone astray. It is not loving to encourage someone to pursue a spiritually destructive path. So, I think it is sad that some are rejoicing at this “victory.”
For an explanation of the remarkable coincidence of the tornado touchdown at the same time as the convention, see Piper’s response here.
(As a side note, one wonders what impact such a decision will have on the definition of “Evangelical.”)
