If you can (for many of us this task will seem impossible), imagine that you have just completed a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Chicago. What do you think would be on your heart and mind? A teaching position at a prestigious university? Making money in scientific research? For Dr. Kiflu Gebremeskel, mathematics was simply a tool. For Dr. Gebremeskel, all tools were to be employed for the furtherance of the gospel of Jesus Christ. So, he took his math skills back to his home country of Eritrea and began teaching in a school there and sharing the gospel along the way. He was a pastor and teacher in Eritrea until May of 2004, when he was arrested because of his gospel ministry. Since that May morning more than 3 years ago, Dr. Gebremeskel has not been allowed to see his wife or his four children. Remember this man in your prayers today. You might even wish to write him a letter.
Thank you for being so faithful to remember those who suffer every day for our Lord. I will pray for this man and will write him. I cannot imagine not seeing my husband and my children. I should not take so much for granted.
