I am reading a book right now from the perspective of liberation theology. The book contains this sentence: Who Jesus is for us today is not decided by focusing our attention exclusively on either the social context alone or the Bible alone but by seeing them in dialectical relation. Now, my question is, What do you think about this? Even if you don’t quite understand “dialectical relation,” you can clearly see what is being claimed. Given that today is Reformation Day, I thought it would be good to remind ourselves of what the relationship between our experience (social context) and the Bible actually ought to be. Experience alone? Bible alone? Or Dialectical relation? Happy Reformation Day! We celebrate 490 years of Sola Scriptura today.
What do you think?
