Psalm 9 says, “I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will tell of all Thy wonders. I will be glad and exult in Thee.” Immediately my mind raced with through hundreds of blessings for which I have never given thanks to God. For example, I am planning a trip from Kentucky to Texas. I am free to drive the entire way, taking any route I choose, without stopping at checkpoints along the way. There are no borders, no security checks, and I can play songs and sing along, “Shout to the Lord all the earth let us sing. Power and majesty, praise to the King…” I can put stickers all over my van to let people know I love Jesus. I can even put political stickers like, “I Like Mike,” and I don’t have to be afraid of the Gestapo or any other opposition group knocking me off. I am free in so many ways to worship and serve. I am truly thankful to be alive in America, in Shepherdsville, KY, today. It’s so easy to slip into the pooh-pooh mindset of cynicism, but, today, I will not. I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart.”
