According to this news story, Martin Scorcese is about to begin a film concerning Christian persecution. The film will be released sometime in 2010 and will deal with Japanese history.
The film is a depiction of Shusaku Endo’s book “Silence”. It concerns the 17th Century persecution of thousands of Christians in Japan. The book focuses attention on the agony of having to watch others suffer. We’ll just have to see what the movie holds.
